Privacy & cookie policy

This policy explains what personal data SkyHi Drone Photography collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We keep it short and only collect what we need.
Who we are
SkyHi Drone Photography is run by Matt Barker, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. For this website we are the "data controller" under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). If you have any questions about your data, please get in touch through our contact form.
What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry
Our contact form asks for your name and email address, and optionally your phone number, company, shoot location, preferred date, budget, the service you're interested in and your message. We use this only to reply to you, prepare a quote and, if you book, to plan and deliver your shoot.
The form is delivered to us by email using FormSubmit, which passes your message on without storing it for its own purposes.
Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
Website analytics (only if you accept)
If you click Accept on our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use the site, for example which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or city), what device and browser they use and which site referred them. This helps us improve the site. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4. If you click Decline, Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Hosting and fonts
The website is hosted by Vercel, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser details in short-lived server logs to deliver the site securely. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when the page loads. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
Cookies and similar technologies
We don't set any cookies until you make a choice. Here's everything the site uses:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
skyhi-consent | SkyHi (browser storage, not a cookie) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we don't ask on every page. | 180 days |
_ga | Google Analytics (only after Accept) | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted. | 2 years |
_ga_7EQL6E8LX5 | Google Analytics (only after Accept) | Keeps track of your visit (session) for analytics. | 2 years |
You can change your choice at any time:
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Who we share data with
We never sell your data. We only share it with the services that help us run the business and this website:
- FormSubmit: delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
- Google: Google Analytics (only with your consent) and Google Fonts.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Our email provider, and our accountant or professional advisers where needed for bookings and invoicing.
Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where data leaves the UK it is protected by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge) or approved standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to a booking: up to 2 years from our last contact, then deleted.
- Client records: up to 6 years after the job, as required for tax and accounting.
- Analytics data: no longer than 14 months in Google Analytics.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data, or restrict how we use it;
- stop using your data where we rely on legitimate interests;
- send your data to you or another organisation in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent to analytics at any time.
To make a request, contact us. We'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
