The Dales, from the sky

Some landscapes are too big to fit in one frame from the ground. The Yorkshire Dales is one of them.

Drystone walls, field barns, waterfalls and viaducts stretch for miles, and the best way to show them is from above. SkyHi creates aerial photography and 4K drone video across the Dales for holiday lets, hotels, estates, attractions, weddings and tourism brands, flown with care for the landscape, wildlife and the people who live and farm here.

Flying responsibly in the Dales

The Yorkshire Dales is a National Park, a working landscape and home to protected wildlife, so we plan every flight with care.

Flight planning & risk assessments

Every job starts with a site assessment, a flight plan and a written risk assessment, including weather, terrain and signal in remote valleys.

Landowner permission & airspace

Much of the Dales is private farmland or estate land. We secure permission to take off and land, and check the airspace, including military low-flying areas.

Wildlife & livestock aware

We avoid nesting birds, livestock and sensitive habitats, keep disturbance to a minimum and follow the National Park's guidance for drone users.

Can you fly a drone in the Yorkshire Dales National Park?

Yes. Drones can be flown in the National Park when you follow UK drone law, get the landowner's permission to take off and land, and avoid disturbing people, livestock and wildlife. We plan every flight with this in mind and follow the National Park's guidance.

Can you photograph Ribblehead Viaduct and other landmarks?

Often, yes. We check who owns or manages each landmark and the land around it, secure permission where it's needed, and plan the flight for the best light and the fewest visitors.

Do you photograph holiday cottages and rural properties?

Yes. Aerial photos and video show holiday lets, barn conversions, farms and estates in their setting, with the views and surroundings that make people want to book or buy.

What happens if the weather is bad in the Dales?

Weather in the Dales can change quickly, so we watch the forecast closely in the days before your shoot. If wind, rain or low cloud make it unsafe, or won't give you the images you want, we'll agree a new date together.

Can you film weddings and events in the Dales?

Yes. We capture weddings, festivals, agricultural shows and outdoor events across the Dales, working with the venue or organiser so the drone adds to the day safely.

Are you licensed and insured to fly drones commercially?

Yes. SkyHi is a fully licensed, CAA-approved drone operator with more than 4 years of commercial flying experience. We're fully insured for commercial work and every flight follows UK drone law.
